Blogging for Beginners - How To Get Started

BY JASON CALUORI

If you are looking for a guide that will tell you all about blogging for beginners, then this is the article for you. I've been blogging online for years now and in that time, I have learned a lot about it. In this a short article, I am going to teach you the top three most important tips that you need to know before moving forward.

One, before you write your first blog post, you are going to need to know where you should be blogging. What I'm talking about is a popular free software called WordPress. WordPress is known as a CMS or content management system. It is the easiest way for you to get started blogging.

Two, now that you know which CMS you are going to use to do your blogging, it is time to buy a domain name. Some people will try to convince you to start a blog on a free platform, but I disagree with them. The biggest reason being that you will be building an asset that you own while you learn to blog.

Three, you probably think that it is time for the rubber to meet the road, but you're wrong. The most important thing that I can teach you is going to save you loads of time.

Let's backtrack to when I first started blogging. I used to write day in and day out, but never earned a dime from all my work. I was consistently putting out content, but I didn't have anything to show from all my work.

Why? - I didn't have a clear focus on how I was going to make money with my blog. I had the mindset that "if I build it, they will come," but I was wrong.

So the piece of advice that I can give you is this - make sure that you know exactly how you are going to make money with your blog before you start blogging.

Hopefully you enjoyed my blogging for beginners tips and will put them to use.
But, those three tips were really only a few of the tips in my arsenal. Guess what? - I actually give away a free guide that will show you how to make money with a website.

Learn About Blogging to Get Traffic

If you want to get traffic, you need to learn about blogging and if you are already doing that, you will need to learn how to optimize it. This article caters to two types of readers; those of you who are not blogging and those of you who are already bloggers.

First of all, I am going to give you essential tips for the people that fall into the first category i.e. the category of those who are not already blogging. The very first thing that you need to do is figure out why you need to start a blog. When you figure that out, choose an industry or a niche that interest you.
It is better to be specific when it comes to blogging. Writing about general topics is not going to help you build traffic. One of the most common reasons that you want to start blogging is that you need to get traffic to your website, or to establish yourself as an expert in your area of interest.

When you are done deciding upon the kind of blog you are going to create, it is time to actually create one. You can choose one of the two options. Create a self hosted one which is very helpful because you can customize it to your preferences. The second option is to create a blog through a hosting website such as word press or blog.com etc. While this option can be highly convenient for first time users it is not as helpful as the first one.

If you choose the second option, go to one of the hosting websites such as WordPress.com and create a blog for yourself. When you create an account, you will be asked to design your blog using a template. Choose one that suits your business and your topic the best. The design can speak a lot about you. So be highly careful and creative while designing, the better your blog is designed, the more web traffic you are going to get.

Now there are certain things that everyone needs to know about blogging, even those who are professional bloggers. I am going to list those things down so that you can have a better idea about how to optimize your site.

• Blogs can be nominated for different awards. You can have a nomination for blogs. If you have not nominated your blog for a certain award yet, you should. Getting an award means that you are credible. Nominate your blog for a category that suits whatever you are writing about and who knows you might win one of the awards. All you need to do is find a platform where you can nominate your blog.

• You can also earn money through blogging, provided you get a good volume of targeted traffic.
• Blogging has to be interactive and communication should always be between two partners: the writer and the visitors.

AdSense Rules - Follow or Risk All

By Gabriele CramerKnebel

It's quite surprising how many people I talk to who have never bothered to read any of Google's webmaster resources, and it's not unusual for site owners to lose their AdSense accounts or have had them temporarily suspended. It appears to be very difficult to get back in good standing with Google, so it is a good idea to read their rules before you join the game. If you are already receiving AdSense income, or plan on making it a part of your advertising revenue strategy, it may be a good idea to check that you are doing everything correctly - today.
AdSense has rules about how many AdSense for content units that may appear on each web page. You can only have a maximum of three ad units and three link units per page. Google wants websites to be informative and easily navigable by visitors, it also wants to make revenue from its advertisers, but not by making your web pages look like giant advertising billboards!
You can have no more than two AdSense for search boxes on one page, and if you own a website that contains racial, violent or adult content, they do not want their advertising appearing anywhere on your site.
Did you also know that AdSense units cannot appear in any software, pop-ups or within emails?
AdSense allows advertisers to tinker with the colors, shapes and sizes of their ad units but not to the extent that they blend in so well that they become unrecognizable as AdSense advertising. It can be done quite innocently - especially if you want your ads to conform to the overall colors of your site. It's quite easy to make other affiliate advertising you use look exactly like AdSense ads, but by doing that you will be violating their rules - think twice before you do it.
Google expects a web page to contain a minimum amount of helpful, quality content, so if you title a page and put no content on there, but instead populate the page with AdSense units you may get penalized.
Lastly - and this is very important - when Google crawls your site it wants to see a Privacy Policy page. This is essential for every website that contains any advertising. If you build a website with WordPress, there is a free plug in that contains a basic privacy policy that you can use. If your website is build with any other kind of software, there are plenty of websites that can provide you with a Privacy Policy that you can cut and paste and use on your site, after changing a few words.
If you have 15 minutes to spare, read the Google AdSense program policies to ensure that you are in compliance and protect your AdSense income.

7 Things You Need To Do To Optimize Your Blog For The Search Engines

Optimizing your blog for the search engines is crucial and very important! There are so many different blogs out there on the net that you'll quickly sink to the bottom if you don't optimize. Follow these seven tips below and you'll be well on your way to high rankings.
#1 - Create the Right Permalink Structure
The permalinks Wordpress uses by default are not search engine friendly. You can make this simple change by inserting %postname% instead of the default that is already there. This will successfully create URL's that include your post name which should include your targeted keywords.
#2 - Install All in One SEO Plugin
This is a must-have plugin which allows you to specify a title, description, and the keywords for the search engines. It can really help you boost up and reach the top of the listings, whereas the standard WP installation can fall short.
#3 - Install Related Posts Plugin
Search engines love it when they get content pages that are interlinked. It also works very well for the search engines. It will automatically include links to other posts that are similar. Very convenient!
#4 - Research your Keywords
When people search, they search by keyword. It is vital that you know what these keywords are if you want to rank at the top of the search engines. Your posts should be centered around these keywords.
#5 - Include Your Keywords in the Title
In the title of your blog you need to include your main keyword. Also, include your main keyword and select others in the titles of your posts and sprinkle throughout your pages.
#6 - Make Your Blog Easy to Navigate
Easy navigation is essential for your guests and the search engines as it makes it easier for the guests. That means including your blog's categories, recent posts (to make sure they get indexed) and pages. Easy navigation is also part of choosing a good design.
#7 - Expand the Ping List
When you make a new blog post Wordpress will "ping" the blog search engines. This alerts them that content on your site has changed and ready for guests to view. This can help you get indexed fast so you can start making money even faster. Do a Google search to find an expanded ping list you can include in your wp-admin so you make sure you get as many of these sites to update you as possible.
Using these seven plugins will make your job of ranking highly in the search engines easier than ever. If you're new to blogging with Wordpress then these terms may seem incredibly strange to you right now. As you study them and go over them a couple times, put them into action and it will start to feel like second nature!
